We added Finland earlier today and thought it only fitting to add a Finnish name set to go along with it.

Added Finnish name set
July 14th, 2006Added Finland
July 14th, 2006Finland has been added. It does not, however, have telephone number support.
This will be the first of many countries added without telephone support. The most time consuming part of adding a country is adding telephone number support, and so we hope to get a lot of countries up fairly quickly, and then slowly add in telephone numbers as time permits.
Update: Swedish addresses
July 13th, 2006Made some minor modifications to the Swedish addresses to conform more to standards. There are now two spaces after the postal code and city names are in uppercase letters.
Thanks to Johan at http://fejk.se for the help! If you speak Swedish, I recommend checking out his site.
Added Sweden
July 12th, 2006You can now generate Swedish addresses. It was a bit trickier than the others have been so far, mainly due to a lack of online Swedish-English webpage translators, but I think I have it figured out. The street name comes first, which is often a single word because apparantly in Swedish you can sometimes group multiple words together (for example, skostorlek, which is a combination of “shoe” and “size”). Or maybe they just don’t use suffixes like “street” and “drive”. Not sure. Anywas. First street, then street number.
The next line has the postal code followed by the city. For some reason they don’t list a state. Looking over how their country is organized, they don’t really have states, but rather large county-like regions.
But anyways, there you go. If you plan on ordering some in bulk, make sure you generate a few on the main page first to make sure the output is acceptable to you.
In addition, I changed some of the options to use drop down boxes so that things won’t be as cluttered.
Swedish name set
July 12th, 2006Added a Swedish name set. This uses data provided by the Swedish government on names currently in use in Sweden, so don’t be surprised is a non-Swedish name pops up (such as Mohammed).
The number of name sets added recently required a slight modification to how the options are presented. We are working on a more user-friendly options menu, and should have it ready to release pretty soon.
Japanese name set
July 12th, 2006Added a pretty good sized Japanese name set (over 1.2 million possible names).
These names are given name first in the western fashion. I also changed the Chinese names to given name first. Less confusing that way I think.
Limited German name set
July 12th, 2006Added a very limited German name set. There are only 40,754 possible unique names, but hopefully we’ll find some more to add soon.
Limited Chinese name set
July 12th, 2006Added a very limited Chinese name set. Please note that surnames are listed first. There are only 12,768 possible unique names, but hopefully we’ll find some more to add soon.
Bug Fix: Permanent URLs
July 7th, 2006Fixed a bug on the permanent URLs (thanks “Nicholas”!) that was keeping all the data from showing up.
FAQ Updated
July 7th, 2006Apparantly people are not bright enough to realize that the generated information is FAKE. Hence, FAKE name generator. It isn’t real. The names are fake. The addresses are fake. The phone numbers are fake. The credit card numbers are fake. Its all fake. It isn’t meant to be real. I wouldn’t even put it up if it was likely to be real. Seriously people, relax! Life is too short to get all worked up over something like this.
So I revamped the FAQ. I went into sufficient detail on how everything is generated to hopefully quell some of these fears.
Besides, aren’t things like real information being posted online, global warming, racism, poverty, and world hunger more important than test data?
