We’ve moved the source code to several of our free tools to github. This will make it easier for us to improve these tools and to provide more tools in the future.

We’ve added New Zealand to the Fake Name Generator.

We’ve added latitude and longitude to the Fake Name Generator. We are still rolling this feature out to some of the countries that we generate addresses for, but expect to have it fully available in a few days.

The coordinates we provide are intentionally not exact. For example, if the generated city is New York, then the coordinates will be in the general area of New York City but not the exact street address. This should be sufficient for the needs of most of the people that have requested this functionality.

We’ve had several requests for GUIDs, often used in databases. This feature is now available on the Fake Name Generator homepage and with our free bulk order system.

We’ve been hard at work adding features to the Fake Name Generator.

Over the past few weeks we have added:

1. Brazil as an available country.
2. Brazil as an available nameset.
3. A more modern mobile page for those using smartphones.
4. You no longer have to type in a captcha for free bulk orders if you are logged in and have placed at least one order in the past.
5. You can order in bulk Excel (.xlsx) or Excel 97-2003 (.xls) formats.

Unfortunately we’ve run into some issues with the Excel order fulfillment process and have disabled it until we can fix the problems.

To make up for this, we’ve added Russian names, both romanized and Cyrillic.

With some help from Michael Bisbjerg, we’ve added Danish national identification numbers to the Fake Name Generator. Thanks Michael!

The Fake Name Generator now generates company names, too. These probably won’t match up with the occupation very often, but this is something we’ll work on improving in the future.

The Fake Name Generator is giving away eight $100 Google AdWords gift cards. These gift cards will give you more than enough credit to start a successful campaign for the holidays.

So how do you win? Simply leave a comment on this blog post telling us what you would use your gift card for if you won. Be sure to use your real email address when you post your comment or we won’t be able to contact you to let you know you’ve won.

A few rules to keep in mind:

1. Eight winners will be randomly selected from valid entries on 12/7/2011. Winners will be notified via email. Each winner has 48 hours to respond to the notification email, or another winner will be selected to receive their prize.
2. Giveaway is open to US residents only. The prize will be sent via postal mail, and we only ship to US addresses.
3. Gift card use is subject to Google’s terms and conditions, and can only be used by new AdWords customers.

We’ve added QR codes to the Fake Name Generator. These QR codes can be scanned to add a fake identity to your contact book, or to just view the details for it.
